Double Chance lets you back two of the three possible match outcomes on a single bet. Because you cover more of the result, it wins more often — but the odds are lower to reflect that safety.
The three double chance options
- 1X: the home team wins or the match is drawn.
- X2: the away team wins or the match is drawn.
- 12: either team wins (you only lose if it's a draw).
An example
Say a strong home side is priced at 1.40 to win, but you're worried about a slip-up. Backing 1X means you still win if they draw — at slightly shorter odds, say 1.15. You trade some potential profit for a much higher chance of landing the bet.
When double chance makes sense
- A solid favourite you expect to avoid defeat, but not necessarily win.
- Away underdogs in tight matches where a draw is realistic (X2).
- Building the safer legs of an accumulator to protect the slip.
The trade-off
Because two outcomes are covered, prices are short. Double chance is a control tool, not a profit machine — use it where the extra safety genuinely earns its lower odds, not as a default on every bet.
Our tipsters lean on double chance selectively — usually to shore up a fixture where the win price doesn't justify the risk of a draw.
