BTTS Explained: How to Bet on Both Teams to Score

Both Teams to Score — usually shown as BTTS or GG/NG — is one of the simplest and most popular football betting markets. You are not betting on who wins; you are simply betting on whether both teams find the net.

How BTTS works

There are only two outcomes:

  • BTTS Yes (GG): wins if both teams score at least one goal (e.g. 1-1, 2-1, 3-2).
  • BTTS No (NG): wins if at least one team fails to score (e.g. 1-0, 2-0, 0-0).

The final result does not matter — only whether each side scores. A 4-0 win and a 0-0 draw both settle BTTS as "No".

When to back BTTS Yes

  • Both teams have strong attacking form and score regularly.
  • Both defences have been leaking goals or are missing key defenders.
  • Head-to-head meetings between the sides have a history of goals at both ends.
  • The game has stakes for both teams, encouraging them to attack.

When to back BTTS No

  • One team is defensively elite and rarely concedes.
  • A heavy favourite is facing a side that struggles to create chances.
  • Poor weather or a low-tempo fixture points towards a cagey match.

How we find value

At 24BetBox we combine goals-per-game averages, expected goals (xG), recent defensive records and team news before recommending a BTTS selection. We only release a pick when the price genuinely reflects an edge — never just because a game "feels" like goals.

Tip: BTTS pairs brilliantly with Over 2.5 goals in accumulators when you have identified two open, attacking fixtures.
